Starting Strength 20KG Bar

Ideal for all ages & strength levels.

The Starting Strength bar lineup was designed in 2018 by Buddy Capps and Texas Power Bars at the request of Mark Rippetoe for Starting Strength Gyms. These bars are bare steel all the way, a comfortable 28.5 mm* in diameter with the best knurl in the industry. The collars on the SS bars were redesigned with a bigger (3.25”) **diameter, shorter overall length, which also increases the plate space. The collars and sleeves are machined to a near smooth finish. The shafts have a center knurl (20 kg only) and dual ring marks. The 3-bar lineup includes a 20 kg, a 15 kg, and 10 kg option for all ages and strength levels. A natural steel bar that will age gracefully with your gym, The Starting Strength Bar will be your favorite piece of equipment for decades.

Excellent bar

Sturdy and reliable. Used this bar at Starting Strength gym, and when we decided to have a home gym, knew this was the bar for us.

Best Bar I have ever used

The knurling is perfect. I bought this after listening to a Starting Strength podcast episode. I could not be happier with my purchase.

TPB Quality

It's made by Texas Power Bars, and they have been doing it right for a long time. This is a great bar for beginners to intermediate lifters who aren't lifting super heavy weights that require the additional stick of the more aggressive TPB. It came well packaged, and the bar out of the tube, and the bare steel has that beautiful bluish tint. I am looking forward to seeing it patina with use, and as Mark Rippetoe says, with an occasional wipe down, and the oil from your hands, it will take on the greyish/bluish patina as the steel oxidizes. After a few uses, it feels and works very well.

Bar Review

Right out of the tube, a great bar. Am currently limited in my ability due to recent double shoulder replacement, haven’t put it through it’s paces. However, preliminary handling convey a sense of “mass” and “density” that argue for excellent transmission of applied force. The somewhat ephermeral quality of “life” that is helpful in the quick lifts -most of which are probably over for me, is unknown. Will advise a little down the road if you wish.
Note: I would not expect Mr. Rippetoe to recommend any bar that didn’t get an “A” at least….
